IAYO / ESTA – Ireland Chamber Music Workshop for Tutors | Sunday, 24 April

We will be collaborating with ESTA – Ireland (European String Teachers Association) to host a chamber music workshop for tutors entitled “Chamber Music for Young Players – Presentation and Practical Guide” on Sunday, 24 April from 10.30am – 4pm.

Register your attendance here.

The workshop will be led by Katharina Baker of Coole Music and ESTA Ireland with contributions from Niamh Crowley from Sligo Academy of Music and staff from the chamber music programme at the Cork ETB School of Music.

For the first half of the day, we will present three different centres in Ireland (Cork ETB School of Music, Coole Music & Arts, and Sligo Academy of Music) that have successfully integrated chamber music into their regular music practices and performances. As every school works differently, the structures vary in practical and financial set-ups. The presentations will be followed by an open discussion with tips and advice for anyone thinking of starting more chamber music in their area.

After lunch, we will share our favourite chamber music repertoire with each other in a practical play-through session. Everyone is welcome to bring material along. Please let us know beforehand what you are bringing so we can schedule the session as efficiently as possible. You can view a full time-table below.

This one-day workshop will be held at the Irish Chamber Orchestra Studio in University of Limerick.

Participation is free to ESTA Ireland members and tutors from IAYO member orchestras. There is a fee of €40 to other attendees.

We would like to thank the Irish Chamber Orchestra for their support of this workshop.

Register your attendance here.
