Designated Liaison Person Training | Are you interested?
Following on from another successful Designated Liaison Person Training session with NYCI, we are looking for expressions of interest from our members to let us know if you would be interested in us running this course again.
This training is specifically for Designated Liaison Persons (DLPs) and Deputy DLPs in youth orchestras, through IAYO. The aim of this DLP training is to give participants the opportunity to explore the role and responsibilities of being a DLP in the youth orchestra context, and to give participants information and guidance on good practice in order to carry out this role effectively.
Participants should have a general understanding of child safeguarding and protection and must have attended child protection training (e.g. Child Protection Awareness Programme) within the last two years OR completed Tusla’s Children First e-learning on www.tusla.ie before attending this training.
The objectives of the training are:
- To set the context for the role of DLP (exploring safeguarding responsibilities, values, compliance with legislation and current policy);
- To understand the requirements and the elements of this role (reporting, managing information, managing allegations against staff/volunteers/young people, informing parents);
- To examine the role of Tusla and An Garda Síochana and the importance of partnership working.
If you or anyone within your organisation would like us to hold another session, please email Jack at jack@iayo.ie. If there is sufficient interest, we will arrange the training with NYCI.
