Online Designated Liaison Person Training | 13 & 14 June 2022
Following on from the success of our previous Designated Liaison Person training, presented for IAYO by the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI), we will be hosting an online DLP training session online on 13 & 14 June 2022.
This will be two full days of training from 10am – 4.30pm (TBC). There will be a participation fee of €50.
Please note that all participants must attend both days.
The maximum number of DLP participants in the training is 12 so places are limited.
Places are limited so, if you are interested in taking part, please send an email to info@iayo.ie as soon as possible.
The description of the training:
This training is specifically for Designated Liaison Persons (DLPs) and Deputy DLPs in youth orchestras, through the IAYO. The aim of this DLP Training is to give participants the opportunity to explore the role and responsibilities of being a DLP in the youth orchestra context, and to give participants information and guidance on good practice in order to carry out this role effectively.
Participants should have a general understanding of child safeguarding and protection and must have attended child protection training (e.g. Child Protection Awareness Programme) within the last two years OR completed Tusla’s Children First e-learning on www.tusla.ie before attending this training.
The objectives of the training are:
- To set the context for the role of DLP (exploring safeguarding responsibilities, values, compliance with legislation and current policy);
- To understand the requirements and the elements of this role (reporting, managing information, managing allegations against staff / volunteers / young people, informing parents);
- To examine the role of Túsla and An Garda Síochana and the importance of partnership working.
