A Gift of Music

Composer Vincent Kennedy contacted IAYO following the Festival of Youth Orchestras this year to offer some of his pieces for youth orchestras. Vincent’s music has been played at the festival in recent years by the Donegal Youth Orchestra in 2010 and by the North Wexford Youth Orchestra in 2012.

The scores for two of Vincent’s works are now available here on the IAYO website. ‘If You Have To Ask You Will Never Know’ is from Vincent’s Winds of Change suite and the arrangement was specifically made for the North Wexford Youth Orchestra. Also available is ‘Sunny Day in Fethard-on-Sea’ from The Hook – A Place and A People. Recordings of both pieces are available to listen to below. Finally, Vincent has also given us a recording of his cello suite which has recently been included in the RIAM Grade VII syllabus.
