Call for Performers: Society for Music Education in Ireland Annual Conference

The Society for Music Education in Ireland (SMEI) will hold their 10th annual conference online from 4 – 6 November 2021. Registration to attend is now open here.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Amplifying Music Education” and the SMEI has invited three internationally-renowned keynote speakers to present on this theme. Professor Marie McCarthy (University of Michigan) will give the opening keynote on Thursday, 4 November with Dr Susan O’Neill (Simon Fraser University, Canada) on Friday, 5 November, and musician and educator, Nate Holder (UK) on the closing day.

The SMEI are inviting individual performers and music groups to contribute to the forthcoming confrerence. This call is open to all performers and across all musical styles and genres.

Performers are asked to submit a 4-6 minute video-recorded performance for consideration. Performances selected will be broadcast to the conference delegates and guests throughout the conference.

Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 29 October 2021.

The conference itself is open to members and non-members of SMEI, national and international, and to music educators and those interested in music education across all musical genres and music-making contexts. The conference fees are as follows:

  • SMEI Members – €25
  • Non-members – €50
  • Students – €10
