Ulster Youth Orchestra Audition Process Opens
The audition process for the Ulster Youth Orchestra is now open. Working in close association with the Education Authority, Ulster Youth Orchestra brings together the most talented young instrumentalists aged between 14 and 23 from throughout Northern Ireland for residential courses and concerts, CD recordings, special projects, workshops and events. The Ulster Youth Orchestra is a cross-community organisation. Annual auditions ensure the young players are selected purely on the basis of musical ability regardless of religion or social background. There is an audition fee of £25.
Applicants must be aged between 14 and 23 as of Wednesday, 3 August 2023.
Deadline for applications is Wednesday, 2 November 2022.

Criteria:
Applicants must be aged between 14 & 23 as of Wednesday, 3 August 2023.
Applicants must be of a standard equivalent to at least ABRSM Grade 7.
Applicants will be accepted from musicians who were born in Northern Ireland, or live in Northern Ireland or are in full-time study in Northern Ireland (at least 12 hours per week).
Preference will be given to musicians who fulfill the above criteria however consideration will be given to other applicants to ensure the necessary orchestral balance and preserve the excellence and continuing high standards of the Ulster Youth Orchestra. Qualifications gained or previous membership of UYO do not guarantee success at audition -all candidates must re-apply for a place in the Orchestra and are assessed on their performance on the day.
Places are allocated based on the numbers required for the 2023 repertoire.
Auditions will be held at Queens University Belfast on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 December 2022.
