Safe to Create Research on Marginalised Voices
After the Speak Up report was published in 2021, it was recognised that the initial research did not adequately capture the experiences of certain communities within the arts/creative sectors.
As a result, Safe to Create are undertaking quantitative and qualitiative research to gather as much intersecting information as possible about what it’s like to work in the arts/creative sectors if you are disabled, LGBTQIA+, and/or from a minoritised racial or ethnic background.
All surveys are open until Friday, 29 March 2024.
If you are part of one or more of these communities, Safe to Create would like to invite you to participate in this research by completing the online survey now:
– English language survey
– Irish language survey
To ensure artists/arts workers with an intellectual disability can take part as well, Safe to Create are asking similar questions, with adapted language and focus, for these participants. Safe to Create have developed separate surveys in this regard:
– Artist with an intellectual disability Easy to Read survey + Easy to Read survey guide
– Family member/guardian of ID artist or PDF version available on website
– Facilitator of ID arts practice or PDF version available on website
– Organisation working with ID practice or PDF version available on website
Detailed instructions are provided on how to complete the survey, including video guides (general + intellectual disability specific).
If you need further assistance, you can call the Safe to Create helpline (free of charge) on +353 1 254 8680 at these times until Friday, 29 March: Wednesdays 6-8pm, Thursdays 12-2pm, 3-5pm, Fridays 12-2pm.
