Observer Places Available for IAYO’s Orchestral Conducting Workshops
The Irish Association of Youth Orchestras’ annual Conducting Workshops will take place in MTU Cork School of Music from Monday, 3 July – Friday, 7 July 2023 under the expert batons of Course Director Robert Houlihan and Guest Director Dr Geoffrey Spratt.
Participant places are currently full and operating on a waitlist but places are available for observers. Observers will take part in baton technique and score preparation along with full participants.
The course is suitable for beginner to intermediate level conductors working on a mixture of standard repertoire. This year’s repertoire includes Brahms’ ‘Academic Festival Overture’, Britten’s ‘Simple Symphony’ and Debussy’s ‘Petite Suite’, the full repertoire is available online here.
The course is open to conductors of youth orchestras, amateur orchestras, bands, music teachers and music students from Ireland and internationally. The course fee is €150 for observers, payable on acceptance.
