NYOI Conducting Fellowship Programme
The NYOI launches a Conducting Fellowship programme designed for emerging conductors residing in Ireland. Applications for Summer 2025 are now open and will close on Friday, 30 May 2025. More information at www.nyoi.ie.
The NYOI Conducting Fellowship is designed for conductors residing on the island of Ireland who are at an early stage of their professional career.
All candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive training and background in orchestra conducting.
Candidates must be over 18 years old.
After competitive application selection, up to two outstanding early-career conductors may be invited to join the NYOI Summer residential course and work closely with the orchestra and artists, guided by the NYOI Guest conductor.
NYOI Conducting Fellows will:
- Conduct NYOI Large sectionals and part of Tutti rehearsals;
- Receive mentorship and 1-1 sessions with the NYOI Guest Conductor for the Summer Programme 2025, Ruth Reinhardt, focusing on practical training and industry development;
- Conduct small ensemble works in public performances when possible.
The fellowship will take place during the NYOI Summer Residential Course in Waterford between 18 – 27 July 2025.
During that period, the orchestra will rehearse and perform:
H. Berlioz, Roman Carnival Overture W.A. Mozart, Flute Concerto in D Major K.314 I. Stravinsky, Petrushka (1947)
Membership fees apply to cover boarding expenses during the course. Such fees can be reduced if applicants opt to make alternative accommodation arrangements.
All artistic and training expenses are covered by NYOI.
