IAYO Youth Collaboration Grant

We are delighted to announce that the ICO Youth (formerly Irish Chamber Orchestra Youth Orchestra) has been awarded the 2025 IAYO Youth Collaboration Grant.

The ICO Youth are participating in a collaborative project with Music Generation Kerry and Music Generation Louth. Entitled Corda Connections, the project will bring the ICO Youth together with string ensembles in Kerry and Louth to create the Corda Connected Youth Orchestra. In July 2025, there will be a week‑long residential at Dundalk Grammar School in Louth.

The residency will include a series of masterclasses provided by the Irish Chamber Orchestra along with an intensive rehearsal schedule which will culminate in a public performance. In addition to the musical activities all participants will engage in team building and activities, combined with evening social activities which will foster an ethos of collaboration, team working and social engagement. Participants will actively vote on the repertoire that will be played. More experienced participants will also assist residency facilitators in daily operational tasks.
