This position is based in the MTU Cork School of Music Campus in the first instance. The successful
candidate will report to the Head of Department of Orchestral Studies.

The Department of Orchestral Studies delivers specialised tuition in all orchestral instruments and classical guitar, large and small ensemble training, chamber music and instrumental pedagogy at undergraduate, post-graduate, and Conservatoire levels. Fulltime students are enrolled in the Bachelor of Music (Hons) and MA in Performance programmes.

The position being advertised is aimed at a candidate who can demonstrate substantial expertise in violincello performance and pedagogy; has teaching experience with beginner and advanced students; has an ability to support both the CSM part-time conservatoire lesson provision and the full-time degree programmes as well as some experience in chamber music performance and coaching. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the department and school in these key areas through active involvement in promotion and recruitment.

The Assistant Lecturer will report to the Head of the Department of Orchestral Studies in the MTU Cork School of Music, located on Union Quay, Cork. They will be engaged in various relevant roles with the CSM, such as course boards, department panels and other groups.

The Assistant Lecturer will play an active role in the academic direction of courses including teaching, research, academic assessment and academic administration.

Salary:

  • Public Service Salary Scales with effect 01 October 2023.
  • New Entrant: €43,073.00 pa to €58,726.00 per annum.
  • Existing Public Sector Employees: €47,535.00 pa to €58,726.00 per annum.
