WOWFest: Wells Orchestral Weekend | 15 – 18 July

The 3rd edition of WOWFest: Wells Orchestral Weekend, an international festival for young musicians, will take place in Wells, Somerset (UK) from 15 – 18 July.

WOWFest welcomes international youth and student orchestras, choirs and bands to England’s smallest city for an intense weekend of making music, forming friendships and falling in love with the wonder of Wells.

WOWFest is open to all youth and student orchestras, choirs and bands from around the world. According to the nature, size and requirements of your ensemble we will fully tailor your participation to include the best venues, tutors and concert opportunities for you.
Package

The Festival package includes:

  • 3 night’s half-board accommodation;
  • entrace to the opening and closing ceremonies;
  • 2 concerts;
  • 1 expert workshop;
  • 1 tour manager throughout;
  • Festival t-shirt;
  • social activities;
  • sight-seeing schedule.

Costs

  • £260 per person in student accommodation (Wells Cathedral School boarding houses);
  • £350 per person in 3* hotel (eg Premier Inn, Wells).

Come and join young musicians from across the globe for four days of making music and forming friendships. Perform in front of hundreds in ‘England’s most poetic’ Cathedral, the brand new, state-of-the-art Cedars Hall, the medieval splendour of the Bishop’s Palace or Wells’ iconic Market Square. Take part in expert workshops tailored for each ensemble, perform further concerts to local audiences throughout the area and explore the ancient sites of Bath, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge and Stonehenge, all within very easy reach of the Festival site.

WOWFest was created in 2018 by The International Music Exchange, Wells under the patronage of local celebrity conductor Charles Hazlewood to bring music and musicians to the beautiful medieval streets of Wells. WOWFest strives to provide superb concert opportunities and an unforgettable cultural experience for performers and audiences alike. Choirs, bands, orchestras and ensembles from all corners of the globe are welcomed to England’s smallest city for an intense weekend of workshops, presentations, concerts and fun social activities.

Perform joint and solo concerts in the beautiful 12th Century Cathedral, the moated Bishop’s Palace, state-of-the-art Cedars Hall or Wells’ majestic Town Hall and medieval Market Square. Enjoy a tailored workshop with expert tutors from the renowned Wells Cathedral School and in your free time, discover the hilarity of an English Ceilidh, Barbecue or cricket match!
