12th European Orchestra Festival | May 2022 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Applications are currently open for the 12th European Orchestra Festival which will take place from 5 – 8 May 2022 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Plovdiv was European Cultural Capital in 2019 and it is one of the oldest towns in the world with a history dating back more than 6000 years. The Euroean Orchestra Federation (EOFed) welcomes you warmly to Plovdiv and assures that you that you will have great time!
Participation is invited from youth and adult amateur symphony, chamber and string orchestras and individual musicians from member countries of EOFed.
As in the past Festivals, there will be workshop ensembles composed of participants which will rehearse and present a concert program. You can find the workshop choices at www.europeanorchestrafestival.org/workshops/workshop-list. Participating orchestras will present their own programme of concerts also.
On the open day on 5 May, there will be a big welcome party and opening concert in the Kolodrum Centre and, to close the festival on 7 May, there will be a closing concert in Plovdiv’s Ancient Theatre followed by a big party! You can view the full schedule here.
Costs
The basic rate for 4 days is €360 in double rooms for adults. For those up to age 25, the cost is €290 to stay in multiple rooms. To book a single room, there is an additional cost of €80.
The participation fee includes:
- all concerts;
- all workshops;
- hotel accommodation from 4 May to 8 May, 2022 (4 nights);
- breakfast at the hotel;
- opening and closing ceremonies both with dinner buffet (5th and 7th May);
- lunch each day from 5 -7 May 2022;
- local transportation during the festival;
- airport transfers from Sofia Airport to Plovdiv and back.
The participation fee does not include:
- orchestra’s own travel costs to and from Plovdiv (travelling by own bus) or Sofia airport (travelling by plane);
- dinner on 4 and 6 May and lunch on the day of departure (8 May);
- sightseeing;
- insurance;
- instrument rental (where needed);
- personal costs.
Extras
Large instruments such as double bass, timpani and other percussion, piano etc. will be made available by the festival for a fee. Cello players should bring their own instruments although hiring of cellos could be arranged at some costs in limited number on site.
