Join the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland

The Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland is currently inviting applications from young musicians aged 13-24 to join its ensemble. This opportunity is open to highly talented and dedicated individuals from across Ireland and Northern Ireland. The orchestra, established in 1995 by Sharon Treacy-Dunne, has gained acclaim for its role in fostering cross-border and community relations, as well as being a leader in music education in Ireland.

Participants in the orchestra can look forward to participating in the annual Peace Proms tour, performing a series of concerts across the country. The ensemble boasts over 130 members and provides a platform for young musicians to showcase their skills alongside accomplished conductors and fellow musicians, often playing to audiences totaling more than 60,000 people during up to 20 concerts. Notably, the orchestra has achieved international recognition, including sell-out performances at Carnegie Hall, New York.

Applicants are required to submit two video auditions featuring contrasting pieces that demonstrate their musical abilities, with further details and minimum standards available on the orchestra’s website. Successful candidates will be expected to commence in August 2024, with all tuition for workshops and rehearsals provided at no cost.

The deadline for applications is Sunday, 30 June.
