Ensemble Skills Summer Course with The Galway Music Residency | 4 – 6 June

Galway Music Residency is hosting an Ensemble Skills Summer Course on 4 – 6 June 2022 in the O’Donoghue Centre at NUI Galway.

Aimed at young string players aged from 10 – 20 years, this three-day non-residential course in Galway city is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your chamber music and ensemble skills, under the inspiring guidance of the ConTempo Quartet. Young violinists, violists and cellists can apply for the junior course (Grades 3 – 5) or the advanced course (Grade 6 – 8+). Ensembles will be formed during the course.

Places are limited. GME will accommodate:

  • 16 junior participants: 8 violinists, 4 violas, 4 cellos;
  • 16 senior participants: 8 violinists 4 violas 4 cellos.

Participants will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. Closing date for applications is Thursday, 12 May. Tuition is free but an administration fee of €25 per participant will apply.

Schedule
Day 1 – Tackling the repertoire
Day 2 – Ensemble workshops and family performance
Day 3 – Feedback and individual one-on-one lessons with ConTempo Quartet

Participants must bring their own music stands, sheet music printed, a pencil, a sharpener, eraser and rosin. Participants will be asked to bring their own lunch, snacks and water. A light dinner will be provided on Day 2 before the family performance.

NOTE: This application form must be filled out by a parent or guardian if the applicant is under 18 years of age.
