Esker Festival Orchestra and Choir 2025

We are delighted to announce details of the 2025 edition of the Esker Festival Orchestra which will take place between Friday, 15 August and Sunday, 24 August 2025.

For the first time this years festival will consist of two parts. This gives musicians the option of participating in one or both of the exciting programmes.

Those programmes are:

  • Friday, 15 August to Monday, 18 August: ‘The Creation’ Joseph Haydn’s Magnum Opus with the Esker Festival Orchestra and Choir, with one performance in Galway on Monday, 18 August. Cost: €250.
  • Tuesday, 19 August to Sunday, 24 August : ‘Transfigurations’ Orchestral Masterworks: featuring works by Wagner, Stravinsky and Richard Strauss and others with performances in Galway and Dublin on Saturday, 23 August and Sunday, 24 August. Cost: €350. 

The cost for participating in both parts is €400. 

More exciting details, information and repertoire will be posted over the coming weeks.

Applications close on Monday, 24 March 2025.

The participation cost includes accommodation. If you wish, it is possible to arrange your own accommodation for a considerable reduction in the participation cost.

Esker Festival Orchestra are accepting new applications for all positions in the orchestra.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the orchestra, you can apply by filling out the online application form.

Please include a link to a video recording of your playing, upload a CV or short biography and a scan of an ID for proof of age. Please remember that you must be over 18 to take part and that the number of places in the orchestra is limited. All rehearsals and concerts will take place within the dates stated above. The number of required musicians will not exceed those called for in this seasons principal works.
