CIT Cork School of Music: Transition Year Work Experience Music Projects

Applications are now open for Transition Year Work Experience Music Projects 2019.

This is a Transition Year Work Experience Week, with project ensembles and professional seminars. In 2018 over 130 young musicians from 25 counties came together for a fabulous week of music making. There is no charge for this course and all materials will be provided. It will take place in the CIT Cork School of Music from Monday 1 April to Friday 5 April 2019. It has a number of different strands:

The Transition Year Project Orchestra
Into its third year, this has been very successful with a full Symphony Orchestra of approximately eighty preparing and performing a programme of orchestral standards such as Finlandia, Force of Destiny, and Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance under the direction of young professional conductor Conor Palliser.

Traditional Music Ensemble
Under the stewardship of Johnny McCarthy & Ciara O’Leary-Fitzpatrick, some of the best young Traditional musicians from all corners of Ireland form an ensemble that prepares a lunchtime concert and studies a broad range of styles.

Popular Music Ensembles
An innovation this coming year will be the Popular Music Ensembles. Applicants will be grouped into balanced pop ensembles and study a range of popular music styles leading to a final concert. Accepting players of: electric guitar, electric bass, pop keyboards or piano, drumkit; and pop vocalists. There may have to be auditions in certain areas.
