The ConCorda Junior Quartet Day ran as part of the annual ConCorda Chamber Music Course in Kilkenny. It is aimed at young quartets under the age of 14, who play together regularly. The quartets were given the opportunity to be tutored by members of the Irish Chamber Orchestra where they could experience the atmosphere of what it is like being on a course.
Cian Clune: “Adrian taught me that it is really important not just to play well but to listen well to others in the quartet; that is what makes a great musician. We had a fabulous time with the musical theatre. I had never experienced anything like that before. Thank you for an amazing day!”
Margaretmary O’Shea: “ Our tutors Aidan and Aoife were so kind and encouraging to us. We had great fun improvising with our piece “Hidden Rhymes ” putting in thrills here and there, notes where we felt like it, changing the tempo, swaying with the music and making it our own. I loved the whole experience of ConCorda. We were on our summer holidays, the sun was shining, we were somewhere new with oceans of musical people around us. Thank you so much.”
