Online Chamber Ensemble perform Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-flat major in person

This is the moment! The moment where our Online Chamber Ensemble finally got to perform together in person and just listen to how incredible they sound!

The Online Chamber Ensemble, directed by Katherine Hunka (Irish Chamber Orchestra Leader) performed the first movement from Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-flat major, op. 20.

Prior to this performance, the group had solely rehearsed on Jamulus; a real-time, web-based software that enabled the musicians to rehearse and perform together in real-time while being in different counties! This was the first time the group was able to meet in person!

The Online Chamber Ensemble is presented by the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras in collaboration with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and is funded by the Arts Council through the Capacity Building Support Scheme 2020.

This performance was recorded in MTU Cork School of Music with many thanks to The National String Quartet Foundation.
