Mentoring Scheme for Writers About Music in Galway City and County
There is mentoring Scheme for Writers About Music in Galway City and County
The Journal of Music, in partnership with Galway City Council and Galway County Council, is running it’s fourth exciting mentoring scheme to encourage the next generation of writers about music in the west of Ireland. The deadline for applications is Monday 7 January 2019.
There are seven places available this year, five for writers based in Galway City and two for writers in County Galway.
Over twelve months, the editorial team of the Journal of Music will work with the seven writers, developing their writing about music and working towards publication.
This is the fourth such scheme that the Journal of Music has launched, following successful programmes in Galway City and County Clare in 2017, and supported by the arts offices of Galway City Council and Clare County Council, and Northern Ireland in 2018, supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. To date, 20 reviews have been published under these schemes, expanding the Journal of Music’s coverage in these areas and broadening its pool of writers.
The purpose of the Galway City and Galway County scheme is to build long-lasting relationships with writers and develop the Journal of Music’s coverage of music in the west.
