The Irish Chamber Orchestra sets up New Youth Orchestra – ICOYO

The Irish Chamber Orchestra is setting up a new youth orchestra, the Irish Chamber Orchestra Youth Orchestra (ICOYO) for 12 – 18 year olds in Limerick. The ICOYO aims for the highest standards of performance, putting a strong emphasis on friendship and fun throughout the learning process.

ICOYO weekly rehearsals will take place at Istabraq Hall at the Limerick Civic Offices, Merchants Quay on Friday evenings 5.30 – 7.30pm. Augmented by three camps throughout the year (October mid-term, Easter and summer), this new youth orchestra will provide tuition to budding young string players, allowing them to perform and grow as musicians. It is entirely free of charge.

The minimum ICOYO requirement is a grade 2 ABRSM standard or equivalent and students are required to bring their own instruments unless otherwise arranged with the ICO.

If you know any budding musician who are keen to get involved, please contact Katherine Barnecutt on 083-363 6505.
