Waltons Music for Schools Competition 2019
The annual Waltons Music for Schools Competition is a non-profit national initiative designed to support and reward music-making in Irish schools and at the same time incentivise teachers and schools to develop their music programmes and make music accessible to as many students as possible. The Competition is designed to promote the enormous benefits of – both musical and non-musical – of creative and collaborative music making for young people and to provide finalists with the opportunity to perform their finished works at a prestigious national venue.
All primary and post-primary schools recognised by the Department of Education and Skills in the Republic of Ireland are eligible to enter the Music for Schools Competition.
Prizes are vouchers to be used for the purchase of musical instruments and/or equipment for the winning schools from Waltons Music. The total prize fund is €7,000, divided as follows:
- First Prizes (Primary and Post-Primary): €2,000 voucher each
- Second Prizes (Primary and Post-Primary): €1,000 voucher each
- Third Prizes (Primary and Post-Primary): €500 voucher each
Each year’s Competition has a theme, and while entries should address the theme, groups are encouraged to interpret the theme in any way they see fit. Our 2019 theme is Music =. (What music equals is up to you!)
Entry Deadline: Friday, 22 March 2019, 5 pm
