Symphonic Waves Brass, Woodwind & Percussion Auditions

Symphonic Waves is set to expand with the addition of Brass, Woodwind & Percussion sections to the Orchestra with auditions being held in Coláiste Bhaile Cháir, Claregalway on Sunday, 17 February.

Auditions are open to young musicians aged from 13 – 21 with a Grade 6 standard and above and will be held by Symphonic Waves conductor, James Kavanagh.

Symphonic Waves are currently looking for players of the following instruments from counties Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Clare and Limerick:

  • Brass – French horn, trumpet, trombone, and tuba
  • Woodwind – Flute, oboe, clarinet and Bassoon
  • Percussion – Timpani and general percussion.

This is an exciting opportunity to play in a West of Ireland Orchestra with a highly accomplished membership & artistic team playing advanced repertoire. The orchestra was set up in 2017 as a project of Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture and holds monthly rehearsals and annual residential programmes, with performance opportunities throughout 2019 and 2020 and beyond. This is an exceptional opportunity made possible with subsidised funding from Galway 2020 – European Capital of Culture.
