Opportunity for young string musicians with Musici Ireland
Applications are open for young string musicians, aged 21 or under and with a minimum of grade 7 or equivalent, for Musici Ireland’s education programme.
Musici Ireland is inviting young string players, based in Ireland to be part of an exciting opportunity to perform as part of a string orchestra, in a concert playing alongside some of Ireland’s notable professional musicians, including Mia Cooper, concert master of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and players from the ensemble Musici Ireland.
The event offers young string players the experience of working side by side with professionals in an authentic rehearsal/performance environment. Composer Liam Bates will be conducting the concert, which takes place in Wexford on Sunday, 28 June, 2020 at 3pm. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, we obviously have to take it one day at a time with the concert date, but please be assured that this concert WILL happen once the current situation is resolved.
The programme will include Griegs’ Holberg Suite and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis.
Applicants are asked to make a video of themselves playing one short piece of their own choice and 2 excerpts, the first from Griegs’ Holberg Suite and the second from the Vaughan Williams. Studio recordings are not necessary. You can email the videos to firstname.lastname@example.org (They recommend using wetransfer.com for any files that are too big too email. Please make sure everything is clearly labelled).
The videos will be submitted to a panel of judges who will make a decision on successful candidates. Applications must be submitted by Monday, 20 April.
