For the next session of the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra to be held from July, 8th to 25th, 2017 in Luxembourg and Kerkrade, under the direction of the Dutch conductor Jan COBER, several orchestral positions for the following instruments are still vacant:
The Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra is a new collaboration between the Irish Baroque Orchestra and the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras supported by the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
The Irish Association of Youth Orchestras invites applications for the 20th National Chamber Music Workshop from string, wind and brass players wishing to learn chamber music. Open to players from Grade 2 to Grade 5 standard, experience of chamber ensemble playing is not needed but players should be able to read music.
Róisín’s Summer Strings is aimed at talented young string players aged between 12-19. Students must be at least a grade 5 standard but post grade 8 students are also welcome. This year violinist Roisin Walters will be joined by Mia Cooper, leader of the RTE Concert Orchestra, principal viola of the Scottish Ballet Orchestra Ian Anderson and outstanding Irish cellist Brian O’Kane.The programme will also feature English conductor James Murray and the school’s official accompanist Dearbhla Brosnan.
Over the past 18 years, the Xenia Chamber Music Course has become an established international course and well-renowned for the quality and richness of its music making programme. A week-long orchestral academy led by conductor Ciaran Crilly, this course features expert training from members of the teaching staff from The Royal Irish Academy of Music as well as rehearsal sessions with visiting conductors.
The OURchestra Summer Camp is a fun, interactive course, specially designed for orchestral players aged between 12 and 18. It’s primary aim is to aid and nurture the musical development of students who have completed grades 3 to 8. Participants will also get the opportunity to take part in a final public concert.
The DYO Chamber Music Summer Courses are designed for young musicians (from age 9 to 18) with some experience in orchestra and chamber music and also for those who are completely new to ensemble playing.
Ceol na Mara is a non residential course designed with families in mind. In addition to the classes featuring both classical and traditional music, the location gives everyone time to enjoy the beautiful Connemara countryside.
